Fantastic fishing reported on the North East side of Eagle Lake.
From the get go fishing has been great here at Eagle Lake Lodge. Guests who have been coming for the past 28 years have experienced their best fishing ever this season. And they thought the fishing was outstanding last year!
Lots of good eater size walleyes being caught as well as the trohpies. Good numbers of them being released back into the lake.
Water level remains high and above normal. Temperatures have been steady on the cool side, and we appear to be about 2-3 weeks behind our normal weather patterns. Has not affected fishing, but more where they are and how deep we are getting them in. Surface temps still are only in the low to mid 50's in most of the areas our guys have fished.
Bass fishing has been hampered somewhat with the cooler than normal temps as they have not yet spawned and have yet to go to their beds where they typically are this time of year. (early June). Quite a good number of those fishermen catching the Bass are also raising Musky, they seem overly aggressive and curious and are ready to be fished. Musky opens on Eagle on the 20th of June this year. Northern fishing has proved challenging, the biggest northern caught to date here was a 40 incher caught while trolling crawlers for walleyes. With the colder temps the vegetation has not really as far along as it should be and the colder water temps have make the Northern spread more and go deeper possibly?
Warmer temps are being called for by the end of the week here ( june 13 ) we are hoping that brings some more temperate conditions.
At this point I would highly reccommend warmer than normal clothing. Layers work as you can peel them off as needed.
